AFTERCARE

Please read general aftercare instructions.

There are many ways to care for tattoos. You may be comfortable with a previous routine or if you have been given different instructions by another artist, weigh your options and make the best decision for yourself.

Keep in mind that when you leave the studio it is up to you to complete the healing process properly. We are not responsible for anything that may happen to you or the tattoo as the result of improper care.

Our recommendations are based on many years of personally receiving tattoos as well as the close observation and monitoring of many clients tattoos during their healing process.

After the procedure your tattoo will be covered with an ointment and protective wrap. Keep this film over the tattoo for roughly 1hr. Only remove the wrap after you have arrived at home and are able to immediately clean the tattoo. With clean hands gently remove the film and clean the tattoo with soap and water until the skin is free of all ink and fluids. Gently pat the tattoo dry with a clean towel. Be sure not use any exfoliating soaps or scrubbers on the tattoo.

After initial cleaning leave tattoo dry and do not cover with plastic for the remainder of the day/night. Leaving the tattoo dry will minimize any fluid seepage and help avoid damaging bedding and clothing. Try your best not to sleep directly on the tattoo.

The day following your appointment we recommend clean the tattoo with soap and water and continue leaving the tattoo dry and free from any ointments or lotion. Do not wrap or cover the tattoo in plastic at all for any reason.

2 days after your tattoo the area should be sufficiently dry and ready for moisturizing. Use a plain unscented moisturizing lotion a few times throughout the day to reduce itching sensation. Clean tattoo with soap and water 2 times a day and repeat this process until tattoo is healed.

After a few days the tattoo will start to dry and begin to lightly flake. It may appear concerning to some but this is a completely normal phase of the healing process. It can last 1-2 days and will then return to normal. Do not pick at or peel flaky skin, the flakes will come off on their own. After flaking the tattoo will typically be fully healed.

Tattoos typically take 5-14 days to heal.

Only touch healing tattoo with clean hands. A fresh tattoo is an open wound and can get infected without proper care.

No Gyms, Pools, Saunas, steam rooms, tanning or ocean water during the healing process.

Avoid sweating or soaking in water during healing process.

Avoid sun exposure to the tattoo during healing process.

After your tattoo is fully healed continue being mindful about sun exposure to the area. UV rays will ultimately promote fading and reduce the longevity of all tattoos. When planning to be in the sun for extended periods of time always remember to use a high SPF sunscreen to protect your ink.
